We’re Olympias, a music charity in Manchester.
We’re transforming music education for young people, and it’s working.
We offer free, 1:1 music lessons and instruments for young people in Manchester experiencing low income. The Olympias model of music education puts the child and their family first, with classes delivered in the heart of their community and for as long as they want to learn. Our approach is all about friendship, belonging and succeeding when the odds are against you, and above all, sharing the happiness a musical life brings. With every music lesson we deliver, we open up the world for more young people to flourish.
The instruments we teach are: Violin, Cello, Trumpet, Trombone, Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Guitar, Voice, Santoor, Harmonium, West African Dance/Drumming and Recorder.
“Without Olympias and my parents, I couldn't have gone anywhere. Children's Voices gave me confidence and lots of important experiences.”
Jasibe (aged 12), Olympias' Learn to play and Children’s Voices and now a member of the Hallé Children’s Choir.
“There is no opportunity anywhere else like this. This has given us a new world where we are all given equal opportunity.”
